Summer Courses of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid
On 25 and 26 July 2007, the CCARS organised the course "Electromagnetic Fields and Society"; this took place as part of the summer courses offered by the Complutense University of Madrid at El Escorial. Major figures such as Cándido Conde Pumpido, Attorney General, Manuel Campos, Supreme Court Magistrate, Manuel Aguilar, Assistant to the Ombudsman, Paolo Vecchia, President of the International Committee for Non-ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), among others, exchanged experiences concerning how best to address from different spheres the social demand for information regarding and monitoring of technologies which, as they are so new, cause alarm or rejection, the mechanisms for deciding protection against the effects of electromagnetic fields and reflections on how human beings reacts to and deals with the unknown.
